I pulled up a previous truck pics thread. It's been locked for quite a while but the pics are still there and thought someone might like to have a look at what was popular about 20 years ago.

That thread ran a long time, 85 pages. I wonder why it was closed. Probably drifted back since it was not made a sticky and someone started a new one. It was started the month before I joined up and ran to '14. I went to the middle and saw a pissing match that worked itself out, but the last page just dropped away. '14 was the year my '92 K3500 died, and I bought this '95 Suburban.

Lots of 15" wheels :metal: And early on lots of fiberglass rash. So many add-on goodies were made for these trucks while they were current. Open up a Truckin' magazine and it was almost all these trucks. "Hey look, A Ford!", and "What? A Dodge????" :lol:

I'd have to go through it to see if I posted anything. Probably used P-bucket. That sure ruined a lot of good content across the internet

Yep. Early 90s were mostly addons and graphics and strange design wheels. And yes, you did post some in this thread. Your big green truck is there for sure. Some are bucket labeled and many are not. I don't know why a "let's see pics of your truck" thread gets closed but it's happened several times since I've been a member here. There are page 2 and page 3 versions of one. While looking for some wheel ideas for my 91 I caught up to these 88-98 pics and thought it would be nice to see "how we used to do them", back then.

I've been working in Frederick, our city, on an old factory building. We paint on a back lot and behind a house on the next street sits a really clean nice blue C1500 lwb. Not lowered, has the rake, and it had chrome smoothies. Just a nice clean and simple traditional look. It really looks great! I'll try to grab a picture. Those are a throwback to before the truck's time and they look just right... smoooth and shiny. I really like it

The way I see it, it should be the other way around. New thread merged with existing. No need for second thread when there already is one, especially when people are still posting in it. Oh well, not up to me

Those threads, very long, like that were closed and locked due to how they effected (slowed down) the servers. That is why there is part 1, 2...etc on many of the areas.

Wow what a blast through the past. Lots of guys driving trucks that are all original and damn proud of them. Also lots of wild customs. Wonder how many are still on the road today. My purchased new 97 4WD three door short bed is all original except for the rims. Only reason for the rim change is the original aluminum rims wouldn't hold air from all the oxidation. It will be 25 years old in a few months!

Loved Truckin' magazine back in the day. Nothing cooler than scallops, batwing steering wheels, and billet: BILLET EVERYWHERE!

Also, "How to" articles, like how to make your Suburban a "Phantom Dually".

When a member recently posted a completely original 89 swb I couldn't believe it, I thought all of these trucks were irretrievably customized at this point.

EDIT: Actually, I went back and looked and it was Boog's 91 I was admiring. Probably the nicest 91 I have seen since 1991. I hope you are not planning to add ground effects and euro taillights lol.

Boog, your truck needs graphics. I'm thinking some purple and yellow with a dash of checkered flag thrown in. Gawd I hated that, even more than teal with raspberry and a dash of sponging :lol: Got directional wheels? Can't rotate them or you have to drive backwards for them to look right :lol:

I went searching "92 Chevy short bed pictures" and dug these "era" trucks out to show here. The black one is still relevant to today's tastes. Might be recently done. The green one I sure don't mind. I've had a thing for building trucks that capture an era for decades. That's what I was after when I did my '71 Cheyenne Custom Camper in '88. I went with what was available when the truck was current, aluminum slots, big/littles, a rake, tonneau cover, dual pipes. I'd like to do a short bed 67-72 with Cragars and trick paint and custom interior how it was done back then. prolly leave the sidepipes out, though (maybe not) :cool:
