then I remembered why I was in no hurry to git it back on, it don't work, or so I thought

luckily Mopar Seth came by and the dude is a wizard with [my] Multimeter and in about 2 seconds flat he goes your brand new Grant steering wheel horn button is DEFECTIVE, that's college kid speak for BROKEN

he says, just buy a new universal one and call it good, then he went inside to get a beer

that was both good news (in the sense that I wired it up right) and bad news in the sense that I hate buying new stuff to replace new stuff

so by the time he came back out I had the button in a million pieces

turns out that gold dish cup thing was not dished enuff so we set it on a big nut basically a round donut with a hole in it and punched it with a punch and a 3 lbs sledge once and dished it out proper

and whalla problem = solution

If someone was to show me something as simple as the pic below, with a short write up, I would be good to go in 10 minutes instead of starring at a bunch of black squigly lines

so from left to right

Red wire goes from the bolt on the alternator to this fusible link gizmo on the firewall

Yellow wire goes from the plastic Terminal 1 / Terminal 2 plug from the alternator and is spliced into the same red wire going to the fusilbe link gizmo on the firewall and also changes color to a different red wire that runs to the fuse block

Brown wire goes from the plastic Terminal 1 / Terminal 2 plug from the alternator to the fuse block directly

and I even show the big fat black negative battery terminal wire being grounded to the alternator bracket

maybe this helps somebody out maybe it doesn't, maybe some of you like it, maybe some of you don't, but it makes sense to me

THANK YOU, YOU JUST SAVED ME HOURS OF MY TIME ON MY 69 K10!!!!!!!! It uses a harness much ike the one on rusty, because the 350 is from that style of truck, except its a chevy.

Tell me your not going to change colors of the old boy. Lol plasti dip the whole truck. Might be expensive. I do like the green and if I squint real hard I can see rusty looking like the Ferrari. Lol

Re: Restoring Rusty

this time finally we are going to use the REMFLEX 2011 gaskets

Gregski 09-18-2016 03:01 AM

Re: Restoring Rusty

2 Attachment(s)
REMFLEX makes at least three different small block chevy gaskets so we was sure to pic the one for the Vortec aka L31 cylinder heads

2005 -

2006 - 1-3/8" x 1-1/2" Square Port

2011 - 1-3/8" x 1-1/2" Raised Square Port

Note it says: "Raised square port" maybe that's they key, a properly port matched gasket, lol

I'm just trying to help out anyone out there in the forum land who may be looking for information on this stuff, that's all

Gregski 09-18-2016 03:05 AM

Re: Restoring Rusty

here's my best attempt to show you how the 2011 REMFLEX gasket fits the Vortec L31 cylinder head
