New lead on our stolen truck

TEXAS, LOUISIANA, OKLAHOMA, ARKANSAS friends please be on the lookout on Facebook Marketplace, Craigslist, and other sale places and on the streets. We got a tip Friday night about the listing on Facebook Marketplace. Immediately called the police who called the Atlanta, Texas Police Department. It seems now, the listing is taken down and they cannot locate this person and the Chief in Atlanta, Texas told me he has never seen that truck there.
Here’s OUR TRUCK, stolen in April 2019.

Man I hope you get it back. That sure looks awfully suspicious with all the “new parts” being the only differences between that truck and yours. Good luck!

I hope that you get it back. Lousy thieves. At least it doesn't look like they thrashed it. Hopefully the cops can catch up to them and put their worthless butts in jail.

You have to pay to sell a vehicle on Craigslist now. Shouldn't the cops be able to get info on how they paid? Credit card or paypal hopefully? Will keep an eye open here in Ft Worth .

Re: New lead on our stolen truck

Pittsburg, TX police just called. There is no truck of that description at the address and the man said that it must be a Facebook hack. He said he has never owned a truck like that. The officer said he was very genuine and let them search all over his home, shed, and shop. The officer said the man was very nice. He said it was not him or his wife who listed the Facebook ad, which has since been removed.

They had 3 trucks listed for sale. We got a license number off of one truck they had for sale. Anyone know where you can get a free report of a name & address from a license plate? It would have to be the same folks who had our truck listed.

They may not even be in Texas! If anyone had sharp eyes or a way to blow up & scan the pics, there’s one of the back of our truck with a license plate on it. Looks like it’s bent and damaged. There’s also a pic of the front where you can almost make out the phone number listed on the for sale sign.

Anyone’s help will be greatly appreciated!

How long has it been gone? Looks like they took off the bumper guards, changed the grill and removed the window tint? Hopefully you get it back fully rebuilt!

Been gone two years almost exactly! It had 140K on it, now says 260K with new motor. Also look at the tailgate....ours had red GMC letters on the black band. If it’s a Chevy, it would have Chevrolet in gold letters on that black sticker tailgate band. I would bet that’s our truck with the red letters removed! They’re also running the same Hankook Ventus white letter tires we had just put on it! I’m gonna add another reason I think it’s ours....my son hydroplaned and had a little tree damage to the original hood......we found another hood at a wrecking yard, had it painted white, and put it on. Notice how white the hood is compared to the tops of the fenders on both front fenders! Ours was exactly like that!!!! May not be ours, but it definitely could be. I have never seen another with that paint scheme live or in pictures! It is a rare truck. And, if it is around Atlanta, Texas, that’s only about 100-150 miles from where I live. Could have easily been at its destination, parked, and hidden before we ever even woke up that morning.

Someone please try to help me make out the license number or phone number on the for sale sign. It’s all we’ve got to go on. Surely somebody can magnify and clear up the pics........I need some computer pros to perform some plastic surgery to those pics!

It wouldn't be the same tires 120k miles later. I guess they could have sat off the truck and now put back on other wheels. I hope it is your truck and you can find a way to prove it and find it

Are you sure this is your truck?

I can understand them going through the trouble of changing the wheels, grille, bumpers, tint, but looking at the pinstriping, your's comes to a nice spear point at the front. This one looks to be spread apart and goes all the way to the turn signal light. Would they have actually gone through the trouble to re pin-stripe it? Especially considering they didn't care enough to change the base body colors?

I am not sure it's my truck. It's very super similar and I'm going on the facts that it's fairly close AND they took it down off Facebook Marketplace and cannot be located three days after listing it raised a lot of suspicions. All I want is for some police officers to find it and run the vin. This is the first hint of anything about it in over a year. If cops showed up at my house and said they wanted to run my vin plate & check my title, it wouldn't bother me at all. Not guilty of anything, no problems out of me on verifying my stuff is mine.

We always thought that our truck had a special order paint job. We have never ever seen another painted like it anywhere or on the net.

Good eye.

GTT, I hope your truck gets found and the thieves caught.

The fact that they listed the truck under a phony name and address leads me to believe that it may very well be your truck. Who else does that? Other than a crook.

I'll keep an eye out for it way out here in Cali. It's been gone a while so who knows how far it got.

Re: New lead on our stolen truck

there are way too many similarities to wonder about pinstripes, which on that age of vehicle are usually TAPE and not paint, so it would be easy to split the end.

the tires are the exact same brand and type. it has what would be a very unusual combination of black sport grille with chrome elephant ear mirrors and chrome trim in the rub strips. the color combination is very unusual too, I havent seen a lot of GMT400 with white over black, its usually blues or reds with white. the headlights and turn signals match exactly and interchange between chevy and gmc grilles.

exactly right.

i would compare pictures of the rear, that pinstripe stops in a unique place on the back of the cab and the exhaust is aftermarket too, if it matches yours I would say you found it.

If the truck in question is yours and now has 260k on it the tires would have been replaced and the wheels are different . Not saying it’s not your truck or it is

Hope you get your truck back

I would guess its more likely it had a cluster swap, 1991 has a electro/mechanical odo that doesnt store the mileage in the pcm.

I am also guessing they put the old tires on new wheels.

just guesses, but plausible ones.

Talked with police again today. East Texas police are all on a new BOLO for the Facebook pics and our pics. If it sees daylight, they’ll pull it over.

Not that it helps any with how you feel, but I would say that you're getting a phenomenal amount of police activity and cooperation.

Hopefully they don't have to chase it down until it gets wrecked.

Fingers crossed.

Just don't tell the Texas boys that you are a Titans fan. They might stop looking.

But seriously. I really hope that you get your truck back.

Thanks. Hey, Titans were the Houston Oilers.....I could get Earl Campbell to call and report it stolen and they’d find it by tomorrow!

Of course there’s a big chance that it’s not our GMC, but it definitely could be. The fact that it’s so close to where it was stolen from, same rare color scheme, same tires, tailgate work (no GMC or Chevrolet), admitted new grille & motor, and has now gone missing again......I do believe that this is it. Not sure I want it back with all the stuff on it now, but at least it’s mine and I get to decide what it sells for, not someone else who may or may not have actually been the thief.

Like I said earlier, I just want to hear a police department somewhere call and say that it IS or IS NOT it.

Hope you get your truck back. They used to hang horse thieves. This shouldn't be different

Don't you know it! Did you see the one where the State Police cruiser launched and landed hanging on some guide wires?
