Barn door latch drainage?

Dear All,

Eventhough i changed all the door gaskets, whenever it rains
there is a puddle of water accumulating in the bottom of the latches..
Is this normal? Should there be a hole for drainage?
Shall i just drill one or two holes?

Thanks for help..

I have the same problem with my '67 Panel Truck. So far I have just been drying it out after it rains. I really can't see a problem with drilling a couple of small drain holes, one in each inner corner.

It's not just barn doors, my Burban with the hatch and gate collects water there too. And it eventually works its way into the spare well. I have debated with myself whether to drill a hole or not.

Thank you for the replies..

I think I also would be in a long term debate..

Burb is freshly painted a few months ago, but already started to rust on that portion while it has been away for some work (unfortunately stays outside).
