Leaf spring help

Having trouble removing the forward mount pins on the rear leafs on my 57 pickup.
Pin is hitting the bottom edge of frame so it doesn't slide out enough to allow the spring eye to drop out.

I am sure there is a trick or I am doing something wrong.

They pull out or are driven out from the inside with a long drift punch (provided there is a hole for the punch)

Factory way http://chevy.oldcarmanualproject.com...55ctsm0472.htm

Now you may have to cut the end off that is sticking out from the inside and drive it some more and repeat if you can't figure how to get it out to the outside.

Looking at this photo of the 57 truck spring pin bushing and retaining bolt I think the plan is to get a bolt that will thread into the grease fitting threads and then pull that out with a slide hammer. You might have to make yourself a home made eye bolt for that purpose to catch it with the hook on the slide hammer. Or make and adapter that will catch the head of the bolt.

Thank you. I realized that I was driving it out in the wrong direction. It comes out towards you, came out with an air hammer easy as cake!

thanks!

I had to hunt the info down. I think there was an article in one of the truck magazines back 30 years ago on it. Funny how when you get older you can remember things like that but can't remember where you sat the ratchet and socket down that you were using three minutes ago.
