63 Chevy conversion

My nephew is starting on a conversion on his 63 chevy 2 wheel drive pickup and I thought I'd share a few pics so far. He bought a 93 dodge club cab and pulled the cab and bed then pulled the engine and rebuilt it and stuck it back in the frame, should be 300 hp with what he did to it. He took the chassis in and had all new front and rear springs installed. He pulled his 63 cab and bed and is sticking it on the 93 dodge chassis. He had to shorten the frame about 22 inches and moved the engine back in the frame about 2.5 inches to get the front wheel centered in the wheel opening and have the right clearance to the firewall. He has it running and close to drivable. He got the brakes hooked up Saturday, has to get the clutch hooked up and is waiting for drivelines then it will drive under its own power.

Nice project.Did it take a lot of fab work to get the C10 floor plan to mount on the dodge chassis?

I talked to him about the details of the swap but if you’re very interested I can see if he wants me to share his phone number and you can call him. He got the wood replaced in the bed a week ago and got the bed mounted last weekend And we took it for a drive in to get a hamburger last night, hundred mile round-trip. Other than the fact that it still rides like an old Dodge, it runs really good. With the gearing and transmission and 35 inch tires that it has we figured it’s running about 1820 RPMs at 80. Pretty crazy to drive a big old jacked up 63 Chevy pick up 80 miles an hour down the freeway.

That is an awesome build! It's too bad you can't get him to join here and do a thread on it. That is a sweet truck! I like everything about it. (Aside from the dodge frame) But I get why he did it.

He doesnt get on the computers much except to find parts. He spends his extra time working on stuff, thats why his projects are getting done and mine are not. LOL

Are his slots 16.5s or 17s?

They are 17", tires are 35/12.5/17 I think. We took it up to the mountains last week for its first towing trip, its officially broke in! He is having a ball with it, got his brake control on it and hooked onto his 30' bumper pull camper the other day and says it runs right up to 80 with ease. Still rides like a 92 dodge one ton...

This is the kind of stuff he likes to do when we go to the mountains. I used to but at 64 I more enjoy putting around on the trails and enjoying the scenery anymore.
