Shifter Linkage

2 Attachment(s)
This is the linkage bracket that I have:

I've installed a 4L70E and the trans shifter connector isn't exactly across from the pivot rod coming off the frame.

My question is if there is a little play in the hole on the bracket that slides over the pivot rod does the rod and the connector HAVE to be directly across from each other?

My plan is to drill/dremel a slot in the bracket to slide over the trans connector.

Additional question if anyone know:
I want to insure the transmission is in "park", would twisting the shifter rod counter clockwise (top of rod towards front of truck) all the way be "park" or would twisting the rod clockwise (towards rear of truck) put it in "park"

Thanks for any help

Re: Shifter Linkage

The transmission shift shaft rotates clockwise to park. The shift linkage arm ends up moving up so it is pointing straight toward the front of the truck. When it is in gear it points downward.

I think that is too much misalignment. I installed a 700R4 in my truck and drilled new holes in the frame rail. The lower bolt got really close to the cab mount.
