Burnsman had a part for sale and I jumped right on it,got the postal money order out the next morning. After a few weeks it hadn`t made it there,$85.He said he`s had funds take a month,so we gave more time. After 4-5 weeks we figure it`s not showing up.Now...he could think I was B.S. and I could wonder if he actually got it.I don`t want to give up the part.If it was lost in the mail he shouldn`t be inconvenienced while the post office investigates.I decided to trust him and lay out another $85 postal money order while the p.o. investigates. So,now I`m out $170+$2.10 for two money orders+$5.00 for them to investigate themselves+$.82 for two stamps=$177.92 for an $85 part with free shipping, until it get`s worked out.If someone forged and cashed the money order then I have that hole mess to deal with.
We should be grateful for every smooth transaction and not take them for granted.Alot can happen.

I had a Similar Incident with a Money Order, It was a $ 400.00 Dollar Deposit to REMC for my Propane Service. They Threatned turning me into Credit bereau & were Rather Nasty about it, After Investigation it was Proven That They Had endorsed the Check into their Account without Crediting my Account.

I was Out the Time & Money to Track this Down & Never Did Get an Apology From Them...........

I Hope You fare Better, Rick

Re: Perspective

By using a postal money order, they should have been able to tell you if it had been cashed yet, did you check into that before issuing another one?

Brian's a great guy to deal with, I'd believe whatever he's tellin' ya.

Re: Perspective

They are checking into it.I`ll get my money back.I sent a second because I trust Brian and didn`t want to hang him up on the money. He shouldn`t have to wait for the result and we already waited a month.
That`s my point, poop happens out of the buyer/seller`s hands, yet the burden falls on them.If this was some Ebay sale,I would have most likely lost the item and possibly gotten bad feedback.

I generally send stuff like this FedEx vs. US Mail - a couple of extra bucks for a lot more peace of mind.

Glad it all worked out!

My point here is a deal can go bad and not be either party`s fault.Keep an open mind.

Here's something to think about. I bought a car from a guy over the internet for $7000. The deal went great as was planned. He lived just off the coast on an island so he dropped the car off at the ferrie terminal and texted me the parking stall number so when I flew in I would know where to find it. I never met him. Sound like a crazy risky sale. Yes. But I had his personal email with his name on it, I had his home phone number, and I put the $7000 right into his bank account. Why was the car there like he said it was....because he was trackable. I told him I would not send him money, or paypal him but I would put it into an established bank account. He had the money within 24 hours of the sale and I had a car to pick up exactly as planned. Key word... trackable. No one should get burned when the other party is trackable.

Actually sounds kinda mob like. "lived just off the coast", "dropped the car off at the ferrie terminal"' "texted me the stall number", and "I never met him"
Good point though, I always make sure before I make a deal that if the person tries to rip me off, I can track them down with the info I have.

I won a model kit on Ebay in Oct.By early Nov.I`m asking the guy what`s going on?We wait a little more and it never shows up.I asked him for a tracking# and he got all testy and said it was sent Priority Mail and had no tracking#,if I wanted tracking I should have asked for it...Hey,I`d just like some proof it was in-fact mailed, nothing personal. He's sending messages being all defensive and sayimg I`m accussing him and his feedback score this and blah blah...TouuuuuuuuuuuuCHEE!!Anyway,I got him to send a copy of his post office reciept(as anyone would want)which said the item was sent on 11/1.I realize alot can happen and now I knew something happened while in the p.o.`s hands.About 6-7 weeks later during the Christmas Crunch, when you`d really expect things to get lost, the package shows up looking fresh as if it had just left the sender`s hands...Postmarked 11/1.I think it was Dec.20 when I got it.I had figured it was a deal gone bad.I was glad this grump had already left me feedback when my money came promptly.Because it got all nasty. This guy was arrogant and condescending because he had transactions in the thousands and I`m at 15( :o ).He acted totally unconcerned that something he had sent never reached it`s destination, suggested "I" check "my" post office, check my neighbors, and even complained that he had $5.99 for shipping and it cost $7.50,or whatever.I`m supposed to care about that?!!
The whole point is that he did what he was supposed to,I did what I was supposed to,after alot of misunderstanding and hastle we find it`s neither`s fault yet it was gone, then it finally shows up,and all is done.Right? If the guy hadn`t been such a jerk I`d figure out how to reach him and let him know I got it.It ended with neither thinking the deal went through. It had been officially declared by both parties involved to be "kaput!"....then I get it right about 2 months after I won it.
I had already decided to leave no feedback before it showed and left it at that.

Despite some bad teething problems when it was young -- I have found pay.pal to be a great tool for these remote deals.

Also -- I rarely deal on fleabay.... I do most of my commerce (at least for auto stuff) here.

Re: Perspective

This problem was with the post office.I figured it got crushed or whatever. When it showed up 7 weeks later than the postmark it looked as it did when it left the seller`s hands.Like it was sitting somewhere clean and dry and never moved. It finally shows up in the midst of all the Christmas jumble.

We will occasionally get packages here at work that don't belong to us. They're mixed in with the returns packages and don't get found till later in the day. We're pretty good about getting it back to the mail carrier or UPS the next day, but I can imagine stuff gets set aside or lost between a couple desks for a month or so before someone notices it and gets it back in the mail..

Re: Perspective

I have had two deals from this board go bad with the Post Office. I paid for a set of lowered springs, he drops them at the PO and I never got them (out $150), next deal, I buy a BBC intake from a member, we hee haw around for months cause the intake is not as described, he is going to get me a new one from Edelbrock, never happens, he says he'll give me back $50 for my trouble and the intake, says it was sent through the PO again, I get nothing, not even the $50. Either the PO could those lose their own @$$ or I got screwed by two members of this board for about $400?! -K- I think I got your point, and sometimes we jump the gun instead of believing, I just happened to get it even though I had faith, KARMA is a bi@tch (that's for the two guys that ripped me!!) you'll get yours!

Re: Perspective

I wish yall would tell us (some do) or post the names here when you do have a bad deal. Its hard for us to help and help prevent it from happening again if we do not know.
I know some of you do tell us, its the ones who dont that aren't helping in any way.

What good is it to post about deals gone bad, but i dont want to say from whom? It may help you vent some, but it surely doesnt help the next member who may get ripped off.

Re: Perspective

Liz, I hear ya, and I PM'd about my deals and I appreciate the help. I guess (I can't speak for anyone else), but for some they don't want to seem as though they are whinning, and in some cases (mine) I am going up against someone who has been here for a long time, so who is going to believe me pver the veteran??, is what some new folks think/feel. I called the police and didn't get any satisfaction, but one day he will meet his maker and this deal will be squared one way or another. Yin/Yang, Karma, whatever you want to call it, it all works out in the end.

70rs/ss the Post office there must really have it in for you, I'm out Money for the New Brake kit that i won on ebay back in october. According to Tracking the Package went to Post office in your area & Just seem's to have disappeared.........

The Seller was Basically no Help in the Matter, On a Positive note all part's that i have Purchased from Board Members & Other Places that were Shipped Comercially were no Problem.
