2 piece drive shaft
I am taking apart my 2 piece DS and I noticed mine did not have the cap's/washers this guy has in the video (10:57 time stamp) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yh2Lb-aKedE i have looked online for them and can't find them at o'Reilly's, lmc, SKF, and good old googler..but no luck.... I watched some videos on youtube and some folks did not have them...that being said..are they necessary? please lmk

If your are missing they probably got all bent up when the carrier bearing was replaced in the past. They do keep alot of the road debris and dirt out of the rubber on the carrier bearing and keep the driveshaft in place when the bearing falls apart. Do you absolutely have to have them no but they do serve a a purpose.

thank you for the reply. Now comes the fun part of searching the net for them or the junkyards. unless anyone has a better option

I have a 1968 C10 that used to have those "cups" on the drive shaft support bearing but the are long gone. We have a local driveshaft shop and I had them rebuild and balance my driveshaft nearly 20 years ago and it has been trouble free since. My "cups" were damaged by a younger me and were deleted.
