69 Chevy C10
 

Well.... it’s happening. In 1969 my nana ( dads mom), bought a brand new c10 off the lot. My dad acquired it and things happened and he wasn’t able to finish it much less start it. It’s been gone from our property for probably close to 15 years. When my dad got cancer a few years ago he mentioned if something happened he would never see it done and on the road again. That was my “Que”, it’s been in the works and tonight I secured it. We are picking up my nanas truck this Saturday and bringing her home.... it’s going to be a long process as I’m not made of money, but I am my daddy’s girl and I do have heart! Any tips, tricks, would greatly be appreciated, heck even donations! I was raised a grease monkey, and I couldn’t be more excited to get my hands dirty so my dad can have his dream truck for just a little while. ❤️
I will be taking and adding photos on Saturday after it’s picked up!
We’re so excited and our family can’t wait!

Welcome. That's a really cool story - except the part about your dad having cancer. Here are my recommendations, in order:

1 - Safety: brakes, tires, lights, seat belts, steering; anything that has to do with keeping you safe.
2 - Reliability: tuning, maintenance, etc.; anything that has to do with making sure the truck gets you where you're going and back.
3 - Comfort - seats, heat, etc.; anything that makes it more comfortable to get there and back.
4 - Appearance - paint, trim, etc.; anything that looks pretty or shiny, but doesn't fit in one of the other categories.

I would keep it simple at first so you can drive it around.
Then make your decision on which direction you will go with your truck after that.

Is the Spid (Service Parts Identification decal) and paper work still in the glovebox?
Check for the build sheet stuffed behind the seat springs also.

Welcome from a newbie to the forum, and a weekend warrior. My son and I are working on a 69 currently. So far, we have fixed the previous owners issues on the brakes, rewired the whole truck and a few other things. This is a great place for info so settle in and enjoy. If I can be of any help feel free to PM me. I am not a pro, but am willing to give you my two cents worth, which most of the time is about all it is worth. LOL.

My suggestion is to start with the brakes and anything that will be a safety issue. Once you get that done, drive it and have fun with it.

Good luck, and sorry to hear about your dad. Cancer took my dad about 10 years ago, and it sucked. Be safe.
