67 K10 manual steering box problem

I was looking at the manual box on my truck. Turning the steering shaft back and forth, I can see steering box flex where the shaft comes out for the pitman arm. The rest of the box appears solid. I recently noticed a vibration around 45mph and wonder if that is my problem. Any suggestions where I can get a replacement without getting raped? Thanks John

All the information I find list the manual steering box as 67-68 only. Will a 69 and up manual box fit? I have a straight six and am not looking to convert to power steering.

Those manual boxes will wear the bearings especially if the gear box oil/grease hasn't been changed. They are not difficult to overhaul.

Is there somewhere I can buy a rebuild kit.

I couldn't find a rebuild kit for mine so I ended up sending it to RedHead to be rebuilt. If I remember right it was around $200.

I ordered a rebuild kit from Benchworksteering.com. Kit was $69.95. It is for manual boxes ending in 42 or 80. They were the only ones online that I found. Hope this helps someone else.

In the early 1990's I was working at a GMC dealer. The bearings broke in my '72 Corvette steering box on the way to work.

Surprisingly, they had the bearings in stock and I drove the car home at the end of the day.

I believe the 4wd mounts on the outside and the 2wd mounts on the inside. 4wd is the push pull set up.
