Backspacing, Offsetting, Backsetting, Offspacing, Backoff, Spacing Setting Confused!?

hey every one, i need some help getting this through my head.
What is the difference bewteen backspacing and offsetting, what do they mean?

Im gunna be gettin new wheels for my sierra classic and i want them to stick out as far as they can. (only on the back, the front can stay tucked in) Im gunna get 10" rims for the rear and 8" rims for the front. So wat backspacing or offsetting would i need to get my rear wheels to stick out of the fender?

Sorry for the long story, but thanks for the help :)

Re: Backspacing, Offsetting, Backsetting, Offspacing, Backoff, Spacing Setting Confus

Back spacing is the distance from the back bolt face of the wheel to the rear wheel lip. Offset is the amount the back bolt face of the wheel is offset from the center of the wheel. 8" ralleys have 4" back spacing and their offset would be zero. I can't remember which is which off top of my head but postive and negative offset has to do with how much the bolt face (the are of the wheel that sits on the hub) is offset from center.

And just so you know, the more the wheels stick out from under your truck, the more crap the tires will sling on your paint. Maybe it's a regional thing, but where I am from that look is considered a "Hillbilly Hauler".

10 in rims with the most bs'ing you can get --I havent heard of any with more than 3.5 bs'ing . If 4 in bs is the most you can get ,that would put a 10 in. rim about even with the fender lip . If not enogh you can get wheel spacers to set them out farther
