My 58 Brookwood

I bought this 58 Brookwood sight unseen for $8000. It had a 235, tattered interior, and no floors. It did however come with all the patch panels. Ran and drove great. The bags and the 18/20's were already done. However, the PO didn’t put front shocks on it.

here's the air setup. 1 gal tank with single compressor. I think I'll move it to the spare tire well. Increase the tank to 3 gal, and add a 2nd compressor.

Re: My 58 Brookwood

I also bought a weld in relocation kit for the front shocks.

The first issue we had was the drivers window kept falling off the track. Eventually it shattered. The problem with the window track was that the lower half had disintegrated, and the reason the window shattered was a to long screw. So taking it apart we broke off one of the bolt bosses on the vent window regulator.

So I got a parts car because I found out they don’t reproduce that window track. All the windows go up and down smoothly.

The first thing we needed to address was the floors, they were pretty well ventilated. And it was probably none to safe to drive!

Bear in mind that this is Alex's first Time welding, well anything that wasn’t scrap. I think he did a great job. Just to be sure we coated all the welds in Flex-Seal.

Then we covered the whole floor top and bottom in spray on bedliner. Now it just needs new jute, carpet, upholstery, door panels, and windlace.

Looking good, amazing that you found a parts car.....

Then the old 235 gave up the ghost. It started putting out a smokescreen and losing power. When we got down to 30mph on the open highway, I decided it was time for a motor! But it had to be the right motor. After some looking around I bought a good gen IV 6.2L LS3 short block.

As unlikely as it sounds, I really liked the idea of rowing through the gears! For the amount of power I intend to put to the pavement, there was really only one choice. Although quite spendy a rebuilt Tremmic T56 was picked up and an LS7 clutch.

The boys are installing the Brian Tooley Racing V2 Stage IV cam. 274/280 adv duration on a 109 LSA. LS7 lifters and matched BTR beehive valve springs control the valvetrain. I got some reman ported 821 heads, a velocity fabricated 102mm intake, planning on recapping the injectors to flow around 80 lb/hr. And 1:7 roller tip aluminum rockers. Should be able to get out of it’s own way!

I love it! Guy down the road from me has a 69 malibu wagon that is super sweet.

Your ride reminded me of this photo I took at the gym the other day. Guy that owns the gym is a developer and a car guy. He had these two rides parked there so I took a quick photo. Pay no attention to my 4Runner, I parked it there knowing I would not get door dinged on one side.

Cool lines on that car! Sure hope the windshield is immortal. I had a 3gal tank and one compressor in my 49' and never felt I needed a second compressor. If you're not planning on going up and down a bunch in the parking lot, should be plenty of air.

If you think one compressor will be fine, I’ll give it a try. I have a spare windshield just in case!

That intake sure is purdy! I just gifted myself the Terminator X Max harness for my LQ4. Pretty ingenious little device. Looking forward to hearing it start up. Let me know if you're in need of some headers. I have some on the side of my garage with no place for them to go so happy to gift them elsewhere. Might work well in a sedan if you add some turbos...

Re: My 58 Brookwood

just ordered headers, but I am always in need of LS headers, if the price is right!

so about 3pm we switched over to the 58. this is the new Melling LS6 oil pump. then we put an LS1 windage tray, and a 98-00 Camaro pan and pickup on it.

we noticed that some of the lifters were much longer than others (DOD), so I ordered new LS7 lifters and trays. the white stuff is competition cams assembly lube.
