Re: i've finally started

well the body guy come and looked it the trucks today to give me my options and they weren't pretty. the cab on the other truck is pretty much trash mine has had half ass work done to it (panels were screwed and pop riveted in place.) he said i would be better to buy a new bed kit as the my bed is nothing but bondo and fiberglass. and the other bed has a huge hole in the floor he said by the time i pay labor to fix the whole i could have got the new bed. he also said i would need doors., i am so lost now because i dont have the kinda of money for all that looked up the parts and i would be looking at 3700 dollar for new doors rockers and corners and a bed kit, window reg rubbers, cab supports and floor pans and misc parts plus about 3-4 k in labor so i am stalled for now

You're certainly not the first to be in this situation. This might be the perfect time for you to pick up some new skills by tackling it yourself.

sorry to hear about that. So is that the first thing they did and they just didn't do it right? Might need to get it out of there if that's the case....Is it a larger shop that might be a BBB member? Maybe report there if they aren't working with you???

nice

Re: i've finally started

well one they cut the cab corner out and just over laped everything and spot welded it in. not even close to being right the rust on teh firewall they just welded plate over it instead of cutting it out and rewelding it, patch ont eh bottom of the door was held in with screws, i got holes in my floor that weren't there the holes for my seat belts bolt to are gone teh rockers where half ass installed took it to 3-4 other shops and ti fix the cab like it needs to be i'd be looking at 1500-2k to fix the cab. so i am at another stand still

Re: i've finally started

i'll get some pictures of it all

Re: i've finally started

wow man, sounds worse than a backyard po hack job....

Are they a licensed shop that's members of the local chamber of commerce or advertise any insurance work or BBB membership? If so, you need to report them or at least say make it right or you'll be forced to report them.

i asked them to fix the rust inside the cowl and there ideal of fixing it was to weld a patch inside the cab so water doesn't leak inside

Re: i've finally started

i talked ot them this morning and they said they will make good on it so we will see buti am not expecting much at this point

red69ss 11-03-2010 03:13 PM

Re: i've finally started

wow that is a very poor example of rust repair, I certainly don't blame you for being upset. I hope they make it right for you (if they are even capable of that). good luck

VA72C10 11-03-2010 09:46 PM

Re: i've finally started

wow, that is pitiful. I don't understand how a shop could do that....

...my concern is...is someone completely different doing the work this time?

collins10672 11-03-2010 11:09 PM

Re: i've finally started

sorry about the shoddy work.the $500 would have been better spent on a new mig welder.so you could have done the work correctly yourself.
