Sway bar centeral.
I see tons of questions on this so lets clear some up.
All 2wd trucks (a-arm) swar bars will interchange. When pulling the sway bar off the truck, you can take and re-use all brackets except those that are riveted to the frame. (unless yard allows cutting tools) The 1ton (?) trucks are the one ya want, due to strength/thickness Now lets talk about price. Whats the most youd pay for a stock bar? My local j/y says $35 no brackets. -----Rear sway bars??!! Do new chevy's interchange? What years came stock /w/ rear swaybars? Pictures? Price to pay? FEEL FREE TO CORRECT ME/ ADD INFO |
Re: Sway bar centeral.
My local pick a part charges $15.00 per bar. Brackets and bushings are extra. The problem I've found with most GM rear bars is they are too wide for earlier frames. I've only found one 1 1/4" bar locally. Not as common as I thought they would be.

Re: Sway bar centeral.
Saw this ad in the local CL for a sway bar set-up. If nothing else it is a good illustration of a complete set-up with the picture.

thanks for the imput guys!...
and rear sway bars are veryyy hard to find, must have searched 20 trucks yesterday. |
Re: Sway bar centeral.
I grabbed a rear sway bar off of an OBS tahoe or burb and I think I can get it to work, but I've got a few open projects, one including my brakes... so once I finish that up, I'm going to see what its going to take to get the bar installed. So far it looks like a custom bracket maybe out of some 2x3 steel tube and place it under the axle... I think the only concern was when the bar was facing foward, the end link would be close to the shock thats foward.
I will post pictures this weekend if I get my rear disc brake parts in. And there are places that sell custom sway bars, but I like to grab stuff from the bone yard :) |
Re: Sway bar centeral.
im pretty sure people find a way to mount a sway bar from another car truck, because i have tried one from a camaro and it hits the factory shock mounts. It was only 25 bucks at the junkyard so i wasnt out much.
