Looking to replace our baby

We’ll friends, it’s been two years since some P.O.S. stole our 1990 GMC Sierra, the Milk Cow. Cops had a few leads......I believe it’s in Pine Bluff, Arkansas with new wheels & tires, but cops say they’ve checked it and it’s not our truck. I don’t think I want it back now after this long anyway, but I sure would like to see whoever stole it get what’s coming to them!

So I’ve decided on a replacement truck that I want for a daily driver. I am looking for a clean, low mileage, white 350 SS truck like the one I’ve pictured. Somewhere out there, there’s one needing a new home. Hoping someone can put me on the trail of one. Might consider black, but not red. Thanks in advance and take care everybody. GTT

That's a real nice Sport. Good luck in your search.

Good luck in your search. I had a 1992 sport that looked exactly like the truck in your post. Mine was a 5 speed with bucket seats. Oddly it didn’t have a tach and only 85 mph on the speedo. It would bury the speedo in third gear. I have no clue how fast it would go but it was very tall geared.

I lost my mind and traded it with only 57,000 miles on it. But I did love the 4Runner I traded it for.

Sorry for your loss. F-ing thieves I'm still kicking myself in the butt for passing on one of these. The dealer was practically giving it away. Brand spanking new. It was on the lot for something like a year. But I had 4 kids. I just couldn't do it. I couldn't justify it. And it still bugs me to this day.

I'm sorry for your loss as well! Trucks like what you're looking for are on low supply here up north. Plenty in parts yards but not many in nice shape.

I saw a nice x-cab long bed 4wd 89 GMC on a sales lot in Billings today in the middle of a bunch of way newer pickups :)

Did you catch the name of the dealership? I will check it out. Thanks.

I think this was it:

Standard Auto Sales
1503 Broadwater, Billings MT 59102
406-245-1785

My wife said "why don't you stop and look at it?" but I don't want another extended cab as that is what I'm trying to get rid of. Besides I think this one is just a 1500 and most likely an automatic too based on it looked pretty fancy. I had just been saying to her on the way to town that there seems to me to be a lot more ~1990's Chevy/GMC pickups still being driven around than the 1990's Ford pickups, and - "there's one there for sale on that lot!"

BTW, you wouldn't want mine because it's pretty darn rough ;) I'm looking for a 3/4 or 1 ton SRW 4x4 regular cab manual transmission to replace it as my firewood and trash hauling pickup.

Well, duh! I was wrong it is a K2500 and a manual - it says a "5 speed" but from the picture it must be an SM465!

Well, damn I wish it was a regular cab :(

Thanks for the update. Yeah, 160K isn’t what I’m looking for.
https://i.ibb.co/gRb50fw/image.jpg
This is my father-in-law’s truck, a ‘97 Silverado with 78K miles. He passed away in 2003 and mother-in-law still keeps it parked where he left it. My daily driver, 1998 Ford F-150, has 250K on it and the transmission is starting to slip a bit. I’m needing to upgrade, but mama-in-law won’t sell her truck.

Not really digging’ the green & gold anyway. I’m sold on the white Sport truck if I can find one. My cousin in Mississippi found a black 454 SS truck with low miles, but I can’t afford to feed that darn thing as a daily driver. I’ll find what I want somewhere. Thanks and y’all keep looking for me one! GTT

GoTennTitans,
Here is a black one in Nevada:

Another black one in Florida:

You are making me miss my old '92 all over again. This photo was taken right before I dumped the crappy tires the dealership had put on it. The truck only had 22,000 miles on it when I bought it but I guess the tires were bad but instead of replacing with the stock BF Goodrich they put these grandpa tires on it. I put the BFG's back on it and lowered the rear 2-3".

Thanks. I may call about the one in Nevada. The ad on the one in Florida says 33K miles, but the pic of the odometer reads 133K. Must be a typo. Anyway, thanks again.

It seems that DavidsClassicCars is a scam site. Phone number with the black truck is not a working number. Thanks anyway. GTT

Brother I thought you were looking for a reg cab shorty only. If you are willing to accept an extra cab short or long bed, then just take your pic. There are way more of those out there than rcsb these days. I too am looking around for a nice 91-98 reg cab shorty. I just don't find many of those models listed any more. Well, not with a v8 and auto.

The price seems a little high for those miles, and most people don't want the four speed without the overdrive. But that doesn't bother me for what I want, so if it wasn't the extended cab I would all over it!

Although it would be sort of a shame for me to buy it and start using it to cut and haul firewood. You don't hardly see old pickups that nice in Montana because most of them are beat to heck out on a ranch.

Good luck in your search! :)

nice truck
is it 4by or 2?
i have a '90 GM K1500 stepper with a 350/5 spd and i've noticed steppers are getting very hard to find now a days (that aren't beat to crap or have a bajillion miles...)
some low life broke into our stepper a few yrs ago, stole the jack and some cd's, luckily when i first bought it i installed a kill switch, or we might have ended up in a situation like yours..
tuff truck, ifs and all, been in our family since '95 (bought from the orig owner)
good luck finding a decent replacement!
hope you can come across a nice, clean unit

I have found one of these, but in the 350 version and not the 454 SS version. It is a 1990 Sport truck with low miles. Thinking about making an offer on it. It is a black beauty!

The 454SS trucks are pricey anyway. A 350 will be easier all around to own and operate. It is pretty though.

The one I'm looking at just says "Sport" in red on the rear of the bed. It does not say "350SS."
