LMC Steering column install

Hi all,

Hope you’re having a great week!

I’m in the middle of the LMC steering column install and have two quick questions.

1. I can’t seem to get the stewing spline bolt seated - see picture. Any helpful hints?

2. The column comes with a grey wire separate from the harness. I thought it could be for the horn but that spot looks filled. This is different than the stock setup. Any ideas on what this could be?

Thank you! Will do.

@53burb - do you have any more photos of the paint job on the suburban in your signature? Mine goes into paint next week and I'm thinking about going that route. Thanks!

Is the intermediate shaft on the bottom of the column all the way? When on correctly, the lower shaft of the column has a concave depression or cut out the bolt rests on. Maybe that's what's not lining up (the intermediate shaft and that bolt slot).

Re: LMC Steering column install

If (And it is a big if) the new column is using factory colors for the wiring then a light gray wire may be for illumination of the shift indicator. It would splice into the dash light circuit.

The factory column used a fiber optic cable to light the shifter but the aftermarket may not.

This is just a assumption I made from my desk here in Oregon.
Good luck.
