'88-'98: What Size Tire and Wheel are You Running?
Well, I haven't seen a thread like this so I felt like I should open one up, and see how many replies it'll get. This is for both 2WD and 4WD. So post 'em! What size tire and wheel are you running on your '88-'98?
First, my '88 Silverado K1500. http://a6.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot...09750644_n.jpg Worn out Firestone Wilderness 265/70 16s on 16x7 2000 Chevy Silverado aluminum wheels. And my '92 Sierra C1500. http://a2.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot...39538336_n.jpg http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b2.../Photo0124.jpg http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b2.../Photo0125.jpg 255/60 15 Cooper Cobra Radial GT on the front, 275/60 Defender Sport on the back. Mounted on 15x10 aluminum wheels. Not sure what brand, I think they're Ultra or American Racing. |
Re: '88-'98: What Size Tire and Wheel are You Running?

Re: '88-'98: What Size Tire and Wheel are You Running?
thanks man. it has about 6.5 inches of lift, and I just barely trimmed the valance, if it was any shorter I don't think the tires would fit.
|
Re: '88-'98: What Size Tire and Wheel are You Running?
I went through your build thread. A lot of work to make it that way, and it came out pretty damn good.
|
Re: '88-'98: What Size Tire and Wheel are You Running?
Yeah if I were to do it again I would get a little taller springs for the front, and get new springs for the rear(I have a 5.5 inch block, and a 1 inch block added to the leaf, and a leaf added to the leafs). I think it looks good were it sits, you can still get in it easily, and the 35s fit(I've never had them rub). It looks tall alone, but if you put it beside a stock pickup it doesn't look as tall, some stock vehicles look almost as tall as it when parked beside them.
|
Re: '88-'98: What Size Tire and Wheel are You Running?
I hear what you mean. Me and my dad put a 3" Skyjacker on his 2000 Z71. 3 isn't that big of a lift, but you can tell it's higher than stock, but it doesn't look that tall if parked next to another.
|
Re: '88-'98: What Size Tire and Wheel are You Running?
If I was going to buy a skyjacker lift I would go more than 3 inch, only because you can get 2.5 out of cranking the t bars(you can get 3 out of it but you'll have a rough ride). Thats just me though. I put a 2.5 block in this one for a while and cranked it, but I knew I was going to do a solid axle eventually. If your not going to go any bigger than that. then its not a waste of money because its lifted and still rides good.

255/55/18 Goodyears on 18x8 Eagle 212s. Tires are getting to the point of being dangerously bald, and I'm ready for a new look, so I'm looking for sport/454SS rims with 275/60/15s.

Re: '88-'98: What Size Tire and Wheel are You Running?
Y'know, I've been thinking of running 454SS rims on my '92, but if I get new wheels for it, I'm gonna get American Racing Outlaw II, and probably a painted 454SS wheel for my spare lol. I don't know why, but I love the look of the AR Outlaw II. That and I inherit the fact that it's my dad's favorite wheel. LOL

Right now it has 255/45/17's in front and 275/50/17's in back. I'll also use 245/50/17's in front when I feel like it/get a good deal on em.

Went for the Wheel Vintiques 66-series Vette-style 16x7's. Have Yokohama Geolander HT-S tires in a 245-70 size. If I ever replace the fronts, I'm gonna go back and get a shorter tire and a little rubber rake. Fronts are a touch too tall.

Re: '88-'98: What Size Tire and Wheel are You Running?
I'm running my painted stock 15x6 steels with Cooper 235/75/r15.

running 265 75r16 on 2002 chevy stock wheels. truck has 2 added leafs and a 2in block in the back. front bars were cranked a little. i have plenty of room to run 285 75r16's which i will put on when these tires wear out. the second pic is when i had older 15 inch wheels 10 wide with 33x9.50 r15. but with the back spacing the rubbed the inner fenders too bad.

Re: '88-'98: What Size Tire and Wheel are You Running?
Thank you guys for reviving this thread lol. I was hoping when I started the thread last year it would run continuously. I guess it worked for a while. Glad to see it revived with new posts. Trucks look good.

Just replaced my police caps, with a nice set of used Monte Carlo center caps. It actually looks a bit more masculine than the other ones did, although it is hard to see in this pic. (Note to self: Take better pix.)

Nice truck TecRsq, in your signature it says 15x10's. Is that correct or are they 8's? And did you get them online somewhere or off another truck?
