Re: 5.3 swap build so far

i would love some advice on linkage and fuel delivery, with the fuel delivery i was going to get the fuel pump and sending unit out of a 2004 chevy truck and get the corvette fuel filter and mod my tank to take these any input? and as far as linkage I'm kinda lost

I wouldn't go through all the work to mod your tank to make a more expensive pump when you can get an '87 tank and sender and add a higher pressure pump (Walbro255 would be a good choice). You would then use the Vette filter/regulator. You couldn't use that filter with an'04 pump anyway since they're internally regulated.

For the linkage you should be able to use the factory parts with some slight modification. Once you get the engine in you can hold it in position and see how far off it is.

so with the walbro 255 it goes inside the tank?

Yes, if you get a tank and sender from an '87, they had in tank pumps, but were lower pressure so that's why you need a higher pressure pump.

is this the one i need? http://www.summitracing.com/interim/...ping#Estimator

Re: 5.3 swap build so far

Something closer to this. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/vp...58-2/overview/ Keep in mind the hose length/shape may differ since it's going in a truck sender.

This is the type of sender you would need. The actual one will depend on which side your tank is on and how big it is. http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/more...291&cc=1059825

This should fit your existing tank, but it won't be baffled, and without baffling, the engine could momentarily starve for fuel under certain conditions (hard cornering or acceleration) when the fuel level is low.

Re: 5.3 swap build so far

Get a Wix 33737. It's a 200 Vette filter. Any cheaper brand and it's a crap shoot if it will even work right out of the box. You DO have a returnless rail, right? 2004 you could get either depending on if it was flex fuel or not.

If you don't have a returnless rail, then you don't need the Vette filter. A returnless rail will only have one line, a return style will have two, a 3/8 feed and a 5/16 return. The dead giveaway is a vacuum hose from the intake to the fuel pressure regulator on the rail.

A side shot would be easier to see it in, but that's a returnless rail. Get the Wix 33737.
