67-72 Stock Exhaust

Good morning all!

I am getting ready to order an exhaust system from Waldron Exhaust for my '67 K20. It is all stock with the original center dump rams horns manifolds. I want to stay with the stock single exhaust with the exit on the driver side behind the tire. Waldron only sells 68-72 exhaust systems. I can't see there being any difference in exhaust between a 67 and a 68. Does anyone out there know if there are any issues with putting a stock 68 exhaust on a 67? I can always trailer it down to a local exhaust builder, but I would prefer to just have the system shipped to me so that I can do it myself.

Thanks, Clay

Be sure to ask the vendor if the head pipes are for use with straight or angled manifold dumps. I thought 67-68 trucks used straight dumps, but lots of guys here say theirs are angled. Pretty easy to tell just by looking at any photos the vendor has.

I just ordered dropDown pipes from Waldron's for my '68(C20, 396) with stock manifolds and (even though not installed yet) I am very pleased with the product.
I called them and the lady was super helpful as I wasn't looking to purchase a full system and they sold me exactly what I needed.
I'd just give them a call to confirm you '68 vs '67 question.

Here is the 1969-71(72) exhaust system parts diagram showing orientation and part numbers. Should be similar to 1967-68.

Donwload the parts catalog from this thread:
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s....php?p=8890684

1967 exhaust starts on page 285 and the later years after that. Maybe you can make sense of it and figure out what is different.

That is a good point. I will double check with them to ensure that they are building the exhaust systems for a center dump system.

I did speak to Ruth on the phone. She was very friendly and helpful. They sent me some pictures of the 68-72 K-series exhaust systems. It looks like it would fit. I am just curious why everywhere I go for parts, it seems to specify 68-72 vs. 67-72. I have to imagine that the frames for 67 are the same as the 68's (for the 4x4's anyway) are the same??

Thanks much! That definitely gives me a picture of what it should look like. Mine was all cobbled together, so I didn't have a good point of reference.

Thanks Jason! I will download it and see what I can dig up!

Ok, so in looking at the parts catalog, it would appear that both the 67's and the 68's use the same part numbers....at least for the K20's. So, I think that I will be ok ordering the system for the 68.

Thanks, Clay

Re: 67-72 Stock Exhaust

Sounds like you got it sorted out Clay, ...and Ruth was the lady I spoke with ;)

BTW, ...from Waldron's site,
"When building our exhaust systems; where (or if) it requires a pipe diameter of 2” or larger, it will be 14-gauge tubing, where (or if) it requires a pipe diameter smaller than 2”, it will be 16-gauge tubing."

If you are going with 2"+ (which I did), ...14gauge is heavy ;)
