Quick Tune-up Question

I'm doing a tune-up on my '72 350 and was wondering how do I set the gap on the points?
Do I bring the #1 cyl. to TDC and then set them? What are the supposed to be set at?
The last time I did this was about 15 years ago......now I can't remember.

Thanks

just tap your starter iwht the distributer cap off untill the points are separated as far as they go. adjust with an allen wrench untill a matchbox lid will hardly fit between them. use a dwell meter if you have one. the meter should read about 28. good lcuk, Ben

Just roll the eng so that a dist lobe is at the high point on the points(any lobe),& set the gap @ .019. then roll it to close the points,& slide a business card through to clean the contacts.....69 longhorn.
