UPDATE: 77 desert fox GMC.
3 Attachment(s)
Well i found where it was sitting. Body wise is pretty nice. I don't know if the original engine or interior is there. Supposed to run and drive good. Maybe you guys can tell me about this truck...
$6750 would buy it. I am not interested in it, just curious if it is an original and what would make it a desert fox? Enjoy the pics... |

Re: UPDATE: 77 desert fox GMC.
I am sure someone will chime in with the info but it was originally a tan truck so the color has changed . The interior is correct for 77 except the seat and steering wheel . Looks like someone built a nice truck and the price doesnt seem bad to me even if it isnt a Desert Fox .

Re: UPDATE: 77 desert fox GMC.
Frank, it appears to be an original truck. The truck originally had to be Buckskin in order to get the DF package. The truck appears to have all the items stated in the following order form. The mirrors appear to be newer however...and the hood looks like a late 70's unit...so perhaps it has been updated some.

Re: UPDATE: 77 desert fox GMC.
Isn't that the same one, except blue in color, that Larry Wilcox drove in CHIPS?

Re: UPDATE: 77 desert fox GMC.
WOW.. he's been trying to sell that thing for over a year at least... it had sat in a town here called long prairie... hasnt been there for a while though and I thought it sold... he had wanted $8000 to start, then went down to $7500 last I saw... it is a neat truck.... the steering wheel and some of the under hood goodies are aftermarket are they not???

Re: UPDATE: 77 desert fox GMC.
While it may be a Desert Fox model, it has lost it's originality with some updates. I still find it interesting how many showroom brochures get by editors with mistakes. The truck pictured in the linked ad has Sierra Classic 35 emblems on the fender of the shortbox pictured.

Re: UPDATE: 77 desert fox GMC.
I know it's an old thread ..but dang i love that grill guard and rims..anyone know where i could get one or the other?
|
Re: UPDATE: 77 desert fox GMC.
It likely is a Desert Fox as it has the "ship through"on the SPID.
The wheels are the regular RPO styled wheels but painted body color. |
Re: UPDATE: 77 desert fox GMC.
Bump to the top... Anyone know where i could get this grille guard ? or if you have it so i could get me some dimentions/drawings/tracings of it so i could make my own.
