My 67
Not really sure if I should say this is a build thread being that I have no idea what I want the final product to look like or when it will happen. Little back story. I had my spine fused around two years ago, about the same time I bought this truck. So, I haven't been able to do a lot to it due to not being in the best frame of mind or health. I bought this from a coworker of my Mothers who they had this truck in their family since the day it was driven off the lot. When I purchased it, it was virtually 100% stock except for having power steering installed. I myself am more into the rat rod/hot rod look and not the stock looks, so I've struggled much with not wanting to cut into an antique or just do with it what I want. Well, I've decided to start with the idea of meeting in the middle and going from there. Here are some pics of the way it looked when I brought it home. Once my phone cooperates with sending the rest of the pictures, i'll post them up there just so you can see where I'm at with it now...which isn't very far!

Re: My 67
Took the right side fender off to make it easier to install the rebuilt TH400. I was originally at the frustrated point of just gonna tear everything off just to give me something to do, so I could eventually force myself to have everything media blasted and painted. But, that will take way too long and I wanna be able to actually drive it.
Currently working on putting front disc brakes and a 4/6'' drop on it as well. Still waiting on some parts to come through. http://i650.photobucket.com/albums/u...515_141257.jpg http://i650.photobucket.com/albums/u...515_141248.jpg http://i650.photobucket.com/albums/u...515_141945.jpg |

Re: My 67
The two things I'm working on right now, along side with getting the tranny reinstalled. The power booster/MC would've been nice if it came with better directions on how to install as well as what fitting sizes are required. Got this from GMCPauls with the disc brake swap.
http://i650.photobucket.com/albums/u...515_141314.jpg http://i650.photobucket.com/albums/u...5_141842-1.jpg Now just waiting for the rest of the drop kit to come in as well as the Wide White walls and Primered smoothie rims to come in from Coker Tires...then I should be able to get this off the jacks and put back together and maybe take it for a drive this summer. Went ahead and replaced all the ball joints, tie rods, pitman arm and idler arm while I had everything torn off too. |
Re: My 67

Whelp, this was all I managed to get done in the last week. I've got a few more parts coming. I've got my wheels on their way this week, a new engine harness and I ordered a builders assembly manual. Figured this will help, being I had most of my truck torn down to this stage about a year ago and can use all the help I can get on remembering what goes where. In this pic it was the first time I've ever had to bend brake line before, let alone buy pre flared brake line. So, it's wasn't that difficult, just don't know how classy I could've really made it look! http://i650.photobucket.com/albums/u...518_204443.jpg |

[QUOTE=Slick67;4689489]Powdercoat em![/QUOh

Re: My 67
Just got these put on, getting that much closer. I do think I am gonna take your advice and have my rims powder coated. My thinking is I wanna have a "Reverse Storm Trooper" theme to the paint as well as the tires/rims....I would like to have the rims be black and then the smoothie caps be white...would powder coating work for the white too?

Re: My 67
how about red rims???:D

Re: My 67
I think black rims with white caps would look really good. Can not wait to see the results.

Re: My 67
That is the first 67 I have ever seen with a 327 in it, I Love It. I wish mine had came with the 327 instead of the 283.

Ordered my smoothie caps today. Hope they fit, they're made by the same company who's rims I purchased. Got a qoute for $25.00 bucks to powder coat each rim. Didn't think that was too bad. Just wondering if they'll be able to do the caps too, and how much that'd be? |
