Tougher Suspension

So, I see here that most people want to bag and drop these trucks. Personally, I think that takes away the "truck" part. What I would like to do is find a way to lift the truck on both ends by about 3 inches. Does anyone know of a good place to find a lift kit for these trucks? Mine is a 1963 GMC 1500 LWB with a utility box,, so it sits kind of low. The rear suspension is leaf and the front is torsion (I think).

If it has torsions in front, you can adjust them up like I did on my Nissan truck. Rear leaf? Put some blocks back there... That should be about all you need to do. Put some fresh shocks in if you haven't already.

63 wont be torsion bars, would be coil springs in the front.

Your springs and shocks might just be worn out and sagging from the added weight of the utility box. New shocks in my buddy's toyota pickup actually lifted it about an inch and really tightened up the handling.

Take a look at Dino's pre-runner build, that truck is a beast! Sits on bags and looks as tall as my Toyota 4x4.

An 06 4x4 2500 duramax bed height is at 35" off the ground stock (just as reference). With d2600 bags you can achieve that same height easily in the 67-72's and drop it to set the frame right on the axle and makes it easy to hook up to a trailer- (in the rear). In the front you can drop the crossmember to the ground all the way to almost 3" of lift in the front with bags on a 2wd.

plus with air you can lower it some during long drives and gain some mpg back, depending on tire size.
