Insure while restoring

I need your help. I have recently acquired a sweet 72 K5 that is going to be in storage until the fall when it will go through a complete frame off rotisserie. I'm really excited about this, however, I havent been able to secure storage insurance and I havent been able to find a company that will insure the completed project. I will have a 4" lift and 35s when finished. My company tells me they wont insure anything with a 3" or more lift. Can anyone tell me how/where to get insurance while it sits and during/after the build? Thank you

Grundy insurance is who I go through. They are very reasonable and alot better than hagerty!

it should be covered under your homeowner policy if it is not running. but verify and may need to take out additional coverage

Thank you 1972 Jimmy and Special-Ed, Hagerty wasn't any help so I will check with Grundy. My agent has told me that since I wouldn't be storing it at my home while waiting to start the project my homeowners wouldn't cover it.

That's odd. When I had stuff in storage my insurance company told me it was covered. They even covered money in a stolen purse about 25 years ago...the purse wasn't mine and it wasn't stolen out of my house.

I use state farm auto insurance and have a comprehensive policy that costs less than 2$ a month. It covers theft and vandalism while it is being restored no matter where i have it being worked on. I have it on nonop status at the moment.

I have USAA.. they have an insurance that covers non running (restoration) type vehicles... they didn't ask me about a lift or anything... and it's extremely inexpensive..so if you have somone in the family thats in the military I would check with them.

Homeowners insurance does not cover motor vehicles except those that are used for the maintenance and upkeep of the dwelling premises, and are not licensed for use on the public roads.
