Mechanical to Electric Fuel Pump Question
 

I have been having trouble with my Rochester Carb loosing fuel overnight. Next morning it takes about a minute of cranking (activating the mechanical fuel pump) to get gas back to the carb. It's a bit of a drain on the battery to say the least. I've read quite a few postings, and like the idea of simply adding an electric pump Vs. a brand new carb. Has anyone done this? What electric pump would you suggest?

I had a '67 K/10 Suburban with a 454. Since both tanks were way aft, I thought the gas had to get pulled a long way to the Carter AFB. I put on a Holley Red high performance electric fuel pump. It ran good, and I had a hidden on/off switch under the floor matt for secret security.
What I ignored was the recommended Oil Pressure Safety cut-off Switch. I also had a clear plastic fuel filter over the engine block.
One bad morning, a backfire caught the oil-soaked K&N airfilter on fire -- melting the plastic gas filter -- and the electric fuel pump stayed on. :devil:
I was lucky and some friendlies came out with fire extinguishers and knocked the blaze down. But I had to get towed home [from out of state] and the K/10 Suburban has been a ''project'' ever since.

Yep go to the electric fuel pump that way you'll have two problems the carb and the fuel pump
