WTB 235 6-cyl head

Found out the head on my 235 is cracked and am looking for a good one to replace it with. Casting # 3836848, preferably close to Eastern Iowa.

Be very careful when buying a used 235 cyl head. I’ll bet yours is cracked from the intake valve down to the exhaust valve. Very popular place for these to crack. Always have it Magnafluxed before you buy. I was a auto machinist for a 16 years and saw a LOT of them. Even fixed a few. Hope you find a good one

Yes, the machine shop said mine is cracked in each chamber and they can be fixed but I'm not sure I want to hand over the kind of cash they quoted just for welding. I agree with having it magnafluxed- however not every seller is willing to do that before selling it. I have some looking to do locally but wanted some feelers out there if anyone had one on here.

Thank you- its hard to read but is that a 3836848 casting? I'm guessing there are no cracks, correct? I'll let you know if I don't find anything closer to home- shipping will be a killer.

Casting # 3836848 no cracks estimate shipping to Minnesota with a crate $145

Thanks- I'll let you know- I assume shipping to Iowa would be similar cost.

That fix is a hard one, I’ve done it AND it’s not welded in the since you think it is
They call it Cold weld. It’s actually a series of threaded plugs overlapping each other. Done right it works. Personally if it’s in every cly I’d pass
I would NOT buy one without being Magnafluxed
