77 Cheyenne Emblem color

All pics of Cheynenne emblems I have found so far have the red sun and the "10" painted red. As many of you know, in '77 (and in '77 only), the side molding had a yellow accent. On my original Cheyenne emblems, the paint has completely faded away, so I have no reference for what color the Cheyenne emblem originally was for the 77 specific models. I tried painting the "10" red and something about it just clashes with the rest of the truck, especially with the brown paint. Seems like it should have followed the theme of the caterpillar yellow on the rest of the 77 trim. Does anyone have brochures or literature from 77 that would show the correct color for the Cheyenne accents?

Not sure if this is the same yellow, but there was an old thread. There maybe others, this was one of the first ones I saw.

On my 77 scottsdale it is the yellow color. But maybe all scottsdales where yellow?

75-80 Cheyenne emblems are all red regardless of year.

Just curious if this was true for all years, or only 77? Replacement Cheyenne emblems all seem to be red: https://www.oerparts.com/product/349686.html

Yes, true for all years. 75-80 Silverado is all yellow lettering and sun, Custom Deluxe is black Custom Deluxe and sun only, Cheyenne is only red sun and series number, Scottsdale is black Scottsdale and sun surround and yellow sun and series number.

Ok thanks. I think in my case the sun would look better in the yellow (especially with brown paint and the yellow trim), but I want to strive to keep things correct.

I slightly edited my previous comment because GM made it confusing lol but yes what you have shown is correct for Cheyenne, but I agree is kind of off with that color scheme.

Is that a factory antenna mount? Mine all have windshield antennas.

That's an aftermarket unit. I believe in the windshield was factory.

Eric8, do you have a picture of the entire truck? Looked through your other post and could not find one. My son just bought my grandson a 77 gmc k20 with the same color scheme and I would like to show him what it should look like, his has been baked from the Arizona sun.

Thank you
Tom

I don't see anything wrong with your badges with red in them. In fact, there is some red in the brown. I know it may not look cohesive, per se. And while the emblems weren't designed to clash with the paint, they were meant to provide contrast. I think the body colors provide the major focal point, while the emblems and the trim are minor focal points and the colors give them some personality.

Plus, I like the truck :)

I agree . The 77 in my opinion should have the yellow like the mouldings. But it wouldn't be factory correct on your truck
