Seat Belt New to Me
2 Attachment(s)
I just replaced a 3 point seat belt in my truck. It came with a little 3-prong fork attached to the retractable side. What is it, what's it for?
Thanks. |
Re: Seat Belt New to Me
That's a new one on me, too. Maybe it was something for shipping?

Re: Seat Belt New to Me
I think that is used to adjust where the belt goes over your shoulder. Since the upper secure point is not adjustable like newer cars you can use that piece to “pin” the crossover to the straight up part and lower where it crosses your shoulder. For shorter people I think. Or I could be 100% wrong.

Re: Seat Belt New to Me
I believe that is to to limit how much is retracted. My 1978 c10 sometimes "locks" the retractor firm so i can't even move 2" forward.

Re: Seat Belt New to Me
I was kind of thinking that, but then the belt be all rolled out and sloppy and maybe catch in the door when you close it. That's why I guessed it was for shipping. You're probably right.

Re: Seat Belt New to Me
It is to keep the belt from retracting too far before its installed. If the length of the whole belt gets retracted it will lock up and be almost impossible to get free.

Here's what the seller said they found out: "... Do not remove (ORANGE PIN) until points are installed. Please start at highest point first.."
So just on there until installed. |
