1971 C&C Shortened from 157" to 133" WB

I've got a '71 Cab and Chassis that was from a motorhome. It was actually lengthened from 157" WB to 181" WB. My original plan was to simply remove the existing 24" extension and just bring it back down to 157". The more I look at it, the more I think that I'd rather go all of the way to 133". Rather than re-inventing the wheel I thought someone in this wonderful community has probably already done something similar. Why re-invent the wheel, right? Any tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I'm interested to know how to do this with this frame as well. With how much you need to cut out and the shape of the frame it seems like it could be tricky but I'm no expert.

Why not cut it down to 127”?
That way you could use a standard 8 ft. fleet side bed.
Unless you already have a longhorn bed for it.

That’s a good question. I did contemplate finding a longhorn box but I’m not sure I’m in love with how a conventional bed will look with the DRW. It currently has a 3-piece driveshaft, transmission tailshaft->2’ driveshaft-> hanger->4’ driveshaft->hanger->driveshaft-> rear diff. I’m assuming pulling one of the driveshaft sections will be simpler and more economical.

Leon, aka LockDoc, just put together a dual rear fleetside. There are pics in his thread. Looked good.

Look in the projects section for his "LockDoc's low budget, low maintenance " thread.
