Walt,

Remove the fan but leave the pulley on the water pump. You can use shorter fasteners to bolt the pulley to the water pump. The belt stays the same. The 3 core has 3 rows of cores versus 2 so the coolant stays in the radiator longer and technically is supposed to cool better. I pulled the trigger and ordered mine last night.
