Now that my budget was shot for a while, it was time for some cheap/free work.
I had gotten a straight but slightly crusty set of trailing arms with that 72 frame. So I blew out the welds and split them apart, got the rusty pieces cut out and patched in new metal.
I'll add pics of that work if I can find them on the hard drive
I also kept a close eye on the 'Bay for a mid shift conversion for that TKO. I knew I'd have to move the shifter forward but I wasn't going to pay new prices for it if I didn't have to.
I lucked out and found a lightly used one for $80!! They're usually around $350 so I jumped all over that. It was just the shift tower, but the only other part I had to buy was a shift finger for $33. I could make a block off plate and secure the rear shift rod myself.
It took over a year of relisting but I ended up selling my rear shifter and parts for $50 so overall that worked out well.
