There would be a separate inspection sheet like that for each portion of the build (body shop, paint, trim, motor, chassis, final).

Any discrepancies would be written up or circled by an inspector in order to flag them for repair. After the item was repaired would be bought off by the repairman and inspector with a distinctive hole punch (alpha characters, symbols, hearts, moons, clovers) for tracking purposes.

As the build came together the various inspection sheets would be stapled together into an ever growing packet which followed the truck down the line. After the truck came off the line and all repairs completed it would be driven over to the shipping area where, as part of the process, the bundle of repair tickets would be disposed of.
