any chance for a picture?

is what you are calling the metal window track the piece that is glued to the bottom of the (frameless) door glass? I noticed when assembling mine that it was important to get that piece correctly centered on the glass so that it didnt contact the division bar (the upright between the vent glass and the door glass)

if its too far forward it can definitely hit the felt in the division bar. make sure the bottom of the division bar is bolted in, and there is a small amount of adjustment there too, fore (towards the front of the truck) and aft (towards the rear).

the top/rear felt channel doesnt really provide guidance to the door glass, more a suggestion of location.
