I might be wrong about this, but from how my truck acted, I believe that the NSS was wired in to the violet wire that runs from the ignition switch down to some other component of the ignition. Seems like what they did was just cut that wire to add a plug. One wire with power into the NSS, the other wire with power out only when the NSS allows continuity.

If that's how it was designed, you would probably just need the plug that works right with your 71-72 NSS
