Even in 1966 it wasn’t 100% . 1967 and up it became more common. The actual date code is explained in this picture. Now if you look at Pimstons carb tag 7027009 it’s a 67 carb number but has a M8 date for 1968 . This means it’s an over the counter service replacement made after production

Great, thanks for the info. Somewhere out there is a mountain of carb tags that those rebuilders tossed over the years, I really want mine back!
