That's what I was wondering about, the rear ratio. The truck seemed to get right on up and rolling along for having the deep gears these trucks had. I had a '54 stake body and can attest to the low and slow gearing. It would be a rough rider as shown if running original spring ratings. I was thinking soften up on the leafs and add air bags at all corners to raise capacity when hauling. Definitely keep the solid beam axle. and one more thing... Radials!!
