You can see here where I cut the weld at the rear. The plan is to do all the blocking and then cut the bed in with paint between the joints where it bolts together. This way everything’s painted. I have a small lathe so I'm going to cut the heads down on enough bolts just to hold it together and bolt it back up, align it and fit the tailgate and re-tack the welds. Then we'll paint the bed with the smaller head bolts installed (just a few). Then to finish it off I'm going to install polished stainless bolts throughout. The smaller heads will prevent a gap in the paint at the edge of the bolt.
