On your worn wood door panels, you might want to see if someone in your area does wood grain touch up. In my line of work, sometimes we need to renew doors or fix chips on wood paneling. There is a specialist group that sends somebody out and they fix chips and disappear holes with paints and sealant, etc. Might cost a couple hundred dollars, but they would then match. The guys we use are charged out by the hour. You could have him fix something in your house as a trial run and to make your wife happy, and then bring him out to the truck.
Thanks!

Funny you should mention a wood grain touch up guy... My best friend Michael is down from Charlotte visiting. He's a custom cabinet maker, and when he saw the door panels, he said 'I can fix those!' So with luck next time they visit in a few weeks, he can get them done.
