So on my 68 I ran the positive over the top of the frame rail and then down and inside the frame rail. Then up to the starter solenoid. I use 00 welding cable from NAPA for both negative and positive.
The negative cable I run up to the top of the frame rail just a short ways from the battery. Then grind a spot on the frame to make sure it's clean, then drill a hole a for a bolt. Attach the negative cable to the bolt and then run the engine grounds from the same bolt to the engine and transmission. If you are running an LS you can't have enough good grounds.
