Re: Longggggg Road trip tips. What is the farthest you’ve gone?
In one shot, slept two nights going and coming. I went to "A" school in Great Lakes in '73. Left ~ LA and slept the first night in Colorado Springs, second night in Lincoln, IL. Then a short trip to the base. On the way back, slept in Supulpa, OK the first night and Gallup, NM the second. I didn't bring any tools at all, and drove fast. There wasn't much room for tools in a '69 Camaro, anyway. I did have to replace the transmission while I was in Illinois. Saginaw 4 speed to Muncie M-21. Lucky nothing broke en route, considering the speeds! 2043 miles each way, but separated by 10(?) weeks of skoolin'.
