Tim you nailed it, horizontal 2x4s and the handful of sheets close to the ground have wicked the water up and started to rot. I will look into metal siding, hadn't thought of that for some reason, it has a metal roof already. I don't like the idea of t111 either, had considered smart board but that's in the neighborhood of $50 a sheet. I'm sure there's a sawmill near by I could contact, with all the 3 tier horse fences around me, someone is churning out those boards.
