A lot of people say that a Quadrajet is better for street use, better mpg, more reliable and make just as much horsepower. On my 350 I have an 800 CFM Quadrajet with electric choke.
You probably know, but the Vortec heads require a coolant bypass and widening of coolant channels etc when used on a Gen1 350 block. Have you read up on what your plans are there?
