Not taking into account the price of the core motor, or headers, or assuming you are building the one you've got, I have around 3k invested.

Costs could be easily cut down with hydraulic flat tappet cam, reworking iron heads, and for most of you that do not have to abide by ca smog laws you can find much more affordable headers.

But considering this will be a balanced, roller motor, I feel like 2800 isn't too severe an investment at all. An iron headed flat tappet cam long block goes for that, and you're still missing the goodies.
