Actually not really. I have the truck in the air with jack stands under the frame. Remove the wheels, remove sway bar and shocks place floor jack under the lower control arm. Remove the lower ball joint and lower the jack slowly. the lower control arm will swing down releasing the spring and it basically falls out. I just did this so I know it works.
