1404 = 500 CFM Manual Choke. 1405 = 500 CFM Manual Choke. 1406 = 600 CFM Electric Choke. I think the 500 CFM Electric Choke is the 1403, but I'll need to see a catalog again to be sure.
I bought my HiPo L6 parts 43 years ago. A 390 CFM carb was $87, an aluminum 4V intake was $60, and long tube headers were just over $100. I can't believe what L6 parts go for now.
But putting a 4V carb on a V8 is a piece of cake. Aftermarket alloy intakes are all over the place and at prices Inliners only ever dream of. Look at Weiand, Edelbrock, Offenhauser. Look at SBC intakes on Jegs and Summit.
