I'm liking the battery box. My 64 had a smallish sheet metal toolbox mounted in its bed. It had some old Gates belts, tire iron, a few bolts/screws, & a bunch of dirt . I thought of doing something similar & using it as my battery box since the 'patina' matches the inside of the bed perfectly. But, it's not tall enough which would require tweaking the bed wood to suit the needs…. Still undecided on mine but I like your set-up. I even used/had the same tool box for my dually before raising the bed floor. It's now used for parts storage in my shop office (it's like a coffee table in front of the futon)
