Re: Real buy for someone in omaha. tach dash.

[QUOTE=RandyP;6821694]I see "AMP" so it's only a 73-75 cluster. Anything else will result in learning the ancient communication skills of Indian Smoke Signals. $50 is pretty standard unless he's willing to hook it up and prove it works, otherwise you have to go with the theory it does not and requires a rebuild.[/QUOTE

Not really a sceret but those cluster will work in at least a 84. I put one in mine and followed the advise I found in this fourm. I removed the amp guage and the tabs behind it. Instlled the volt meter and wired the + and - directly to the guage and to a good power source and ground.
For the oil guage , i like the manual one anyways so that was easy, just ran the copper line up to the guage.

It was some work, but what i did, I cut the pig tail going into the cluster and crimped on bullert male and female connetor to make it easy to move the wire around.
I plan on doing the same thing to my 77 and 83. when i find the right parts.

as far as the prices goes, going by ebay, the tach dash there are $300 and up and belive me, been there done that, the tachs dont work. I have a guy in town that will fix the tach for $50, if just the resiter needs to be replace.

It just takes so good old american ingenuity (and this forum).
