Looks like a great time. Gotta say, it's tough not to imagine firing up the '57 and heading west for a long drive.

I used to go to Yellowstone every year. If you go at this time of year you can really focus on the park. The traffic is very bad in warmer months and its tough to enjoy the drive. It's still early though so the weather can play a huge part in the quality of the trip.

I've been to Mt Rushmore twice. Fog and rain both times. Luckily they sell nice pictures at the gift shop.

Anything with Cali plates east of the Missippi has "legendary" status automatically. Folks will swarm a diesel Chevette to see how amazingly un-rusty it is while telling stories about "seeing one once" like it's an original ZL1 Camaro.
