A true 1 wire alt doesn't need that white 2 wire connector. If yours does, then it is a standard alternator. Try running the red voltage sense wire to the junction box(if present) or to the battery. Yes, that means you will have both red wires going to the same place but that is how the 10/12 SI internal regulated alternators are designed. The red voltage sense wire picks up the voltage from where it is connected and adjusts the output of the alt to reach the desired voltage at that location. This lets it cancel out any voltage losses in the main charging wire.
